SSLE and PLE Resources
What's a PLE?
According to Wikipedia (referenced by Kim Duclos) and this Computer Science school resource I found on the same content, a Personal Learning Environment (PLE) is defined as:
Personal Learning Environments are systems that help learners take control of and manage their own learning. This includes providing support for learners to
- set their own learning goals
- manage their learning; managing both content and process
- communicate with others in the process of learning and thereby achieve learning goals.
A PLE may be composed of one or more subsystems: As such it may be a desktop application, or composed of one or more web-based services.
The resource listed above UK Computer Science school goes beyond this definition and looks at broader definitions of PLEs and is a must see on this topic. It has information about PLEs based on blogs, e-Portfolios, and other tools.
